The weekend started out on Friday with 31 pairs of shorts shorts…. dang. So impressed. We’ll keep this one running for a couple more weeks while the weather is good. Those of you who “forgot” this week aren’t out of luck yet.
6am, you had the best compliance:
Then we had the Bed Race on Friday night. Our costumes were something else… they came together really naturally. We had no idea there would be so many people out watching though. We were a crowd hit. The guys at Grilled Fromage were more than happy to let us use their bathroom before the race…. we walked in and there was 80’s music playing and we felt right at home.
So that was pretty exciting… we thought we had the best costume award in the bag… but it turned out that we won our category in the race so we got some awards for that and not for best costume…. (then the guys handing out the awards whispered to us that we had the best costumes). I think we sort surprised ourselves with how nervous and competitive we were with the whole thing. Go figure. We had a good plan though and we absolutely nailed the pylon navigation. There HAD to be some CrossFit skills at play there. Next year we should definitely enter more teams.
Then on Saturday Jesse competed in the Amateur Loggers Sports. And the rest of us sat and ate beef in a bun (nice work on the meat cutting Kevin).
Jesse’s first event was the Stock Saw competition. We had front row seats and cheered louder than anyone else in the crowd (I’m not convinced he wasn’t embarrassed by this). We were impressed by his narrow and clean looking cuts!
But the Choker Race was way more exciting and CrossFit style….
Even though he went in the drink… both ways… he managed to come 4th out of 20something and was only 2 seconds behind the winner, and actually won a little bit of prize money!
Thanks so much to everyone who came out to the events this weekend and participated, supported, volunteered and cheered. The level of community involvement in this town continues to amaze me.
Have a great rest of the weekend… business is as per usual at the gym tomorrow so we’ll be there for all the regularly scheduled classes.
