The is part two of my culinary experimentation with race fuels…. Chia seed based gels.
I have a hard time with conventional gels partly because of sweetness, but often because of texture too. I haven’t tested these on the go yet but they don’t taste too bad out of the mixer. There is room to play around with the flavouring a bit too.
* Mix 1 Tbsp of Chia seeds with 8 Tbsps of water in a bowl and let sit until it becomes a jelly. Note: don’t touch anything with chia seeds and water on your hands… you will find little globs of chia weirdness all over your kitchen cabinet handles.
* Once the seeds are jelly like mix them in a mixer with a 1/4 cup of blueberries, 1/2 cup of dates, 2 tsps of agave and 1 tsp of sea salt
* Divide into little servings… I used ziplock bags. I figure you can rip off a bottom corner and suck it out the bottom.
