Next weekend is GranFondo and there are going to be some road closures in the morning that will affect your ability to get in and out of the Highlands (and other areas east of the Hwy). Here is a summary of what is to be expected for delays:
EAST-WEST movement across Hwy 99 at Mamquam and Garibaldi Way:
– Intermittent delays leaving each from 8:30-8:45am.
– Full closure at each from 8:45am to 10:45am.
– Frequent delays from 10:45-11:00am
– Intermittent delays from 11:00am-12:00pm
RIGHT TURNS TRAVELING NORTH or LEFT TURNS TRAVELING SOUTH off Hwy 99 onto Mamquam or Garibaldi Way:
– closed between 8:30am and 12:00pm
I couldn’t tell from the website what the story is for getting in and out of Valleycliff (My browser couldn’t open that attachment). If you know, please post to comments.
So what this means is that you should be able to get OUT to come to the 7am or 8am classes, but if you do your not going home until at least 10:45 unless you bike over the overpass by London Drugs. Please take a look at the schedule for next Saturday and adjust accordingly so that we can make any adjustments that we may need to on our end if it doesn’t sort itself out (I have a feeling it will). Going to the Farmer’s Market or for breakfast after class is never the worst plan anyways. And if you are someone who can get to the gym easily and has a flexible schedule, perhaps you could shuffle yourself around if you notice the class you are in is full and waitlisted.
I say ride your bike.
