First off I’d like to give a little press to Soraya who put up a 200# 1RM Front Squat two days ago. I wish I had a photo of it, as it was a really good lift.
Powerlifting is a competitive sport comprised of three lifts: the Back Squat, the Bench Press, and the Deadlift. Competitors are put up against others of the same gender, weight class, and age and allowed three attempts at each lift. The total of the heaviest lift made in each event is their overall score… and in the end, overall score wins. This video is a training day at Westside Barbell Club:

Louie himself is 1 of 6 people to total Elite in 5 weight classes and the only lifter over 50 years of age to Squat 920# and total 2100#. Why all this info? I think there is value as an athlete who perform the same lifts (regardless of goals) to know what is possible.
