Friday: Once again it’s time for short shorts. Last week those who chose to sit the event out vowed to return with a vengeance, which puts the pressure on those who had short shorts last week to match their efforts with a new pair.
Friday Night: Krista, Amber, Mel, Steph and Heather will be….. well, competing I guess, as they’ve entered themselves into the Squamish Days Bed Race (7PM downtown). I can vouch for the effort being put into costumes, which is always an important part of competition as everyone knows (?) The race may or may not include a pie throw, banana split eating, hoola hooping etc…
Saturday: Troy, who frequents the morning class and who’s been with us since we opened in October is competing in the Canadian Death Race up in Grand Cache. As of 8AM he will have the next 24 hours to complete the 125km course (on foot). If you haven’t looking into this race it’s worth a gander. Canadian Death Race
Saturday and Sunday in Squamish: 53rd Annual Logger sports! This is not only an international event but also one of the oldest Logger sports shows in the world. Some of the events people compete in around the world originated here. Chain saws, axes, beef on a bun, what more incentive do you need? Saturday is the Novice competitions and free to the public (I’ll be competing in the Birling, Choker race, and Stock Saw), Sunday is the pros and a $10/person entry.
The poles in Squamish have an 80′ line on them and pro times are projected as under 20sec. (up and down). The pros I’ve run into, as I’ve been learning to birl and run the choker, leave me feeling more like the video below than the video above.
